The Roosevelt at Salt Creek Honors Our Community’s Veterans

On Veterans Day, Elmhurst community leaders, York High School students and teachers, and residents of The Roosevelt’s Senior Living Community gathered to honor the service of 25 distinguished residents who have collectively served our country for nearly 80 years.

Beginning with a special breakfast and a pinning ceremony that followed, the ceremony served as a special tribute to express our heartfelt gratitude for the wartime service and sacrifice of each of our remarkable seniors.

Joined by the students, Elmhurst Mayor Scott Levin and American Legion Commander John Scudder, each veteran was given a unique pin from the American Legion to in honor of their service.

The veterans also met with the 15 students from the York High School Military History class, who interviewed them and gained firsthand insights into their experiences, from the Korean War to the Vietnam War, and even one of the few remaining veterans of World War II.

As part of the community’s ongoing efforts to create even more wonderful opportunities for residents, The Roosevelt is currently undergoing a beautiful multi-million-dollar renovation that will enhance the lives of all residents.

As we pause to celebrate our remarkable veterans and their legacies, The Roosevelt Senior Living Community looks forward to a bright future; our ongoing renovation project will continue to honor all notable residents and their enduring presence in our community.

The wonderful community event caught interest from Chicago media, and our residents were featured on NBC 5 News Chicago, ABC 7, Fox 32, CBS 2 News, The Chicago Tribune, and on Yahoo News.
